In my opinion, the main cause that explains the fury of the use of the bicycle in Holland is simple and economic: The tax of a car in Holland is in the clouds. A mid-range car leaves for about 120 euros a month. Otherwise, I cannot understand how these people ride the bicycle with wind, rain and cold at any time of the year.
The first day strolling through Holland is a confusion. The cities are full of cyclists and one has to get used to giving way to bicycles in their assigned lanes; something that in Spain rarely accustoms to respect.
Urban real estate is suitable for the use of this healthy and ecological transport. In this image we see how the stairs to cross the Maas river bridge are properly equipped for the use of bicycles with simple rails to facilitate their passage.
