The unsaved shelters are usually wooden, metal or stone structures that are located in places that are not easily accessible in the mountains. The door is open to everyone and inside they usually keep survival tools, blankets and what good people are leaving inside thinking about the next climber who will spend the night in the place.

It is a pleasure to cross the mountains and find unsaved shelters like the ones you can find in the Italian Alps. Everyone I could see doing the Alta Vía 1 in the Aosta Valley made a pleasant impression on me: blankets, mattresses, impeccable cleaning, a fireplace, snow shovels and a lot of details that people leave behind as oil, salt, pasta, candles and, with all this, a pleasant feeling of brotherhood among mountain lovers and taking care of the environment.
