Track through the forest of Céllecs

The route that we will discover next will allow us to know the archeological zone of Céllecs, About 30 minutes away by car from Barcelona. Through our steps through the mountain we will travel to the past to observe and touch the megalithic monuments that our ancestors left as a legacy in the area approximately 4500 years ago, from the end of the Neolithic to the Bronze Age (between 2500 and 2000 B.C.)

Undoubtedly, the proliferation of these deposits indicates the importance of the Maresme coast during the neolithic. If the stones and history are not your forte, No problem, one of the most interesting motivations of this itinerary is that you will hardly find people in the forest. I've done it three times and at the most I found a couple of guys in mountain bike and two or three more couples walking along the route.

Views of the Vallés from the Turó de Céllecs

By car we drive from Barcelona to the starting point of the tour and take approximately thirty minutes. After leaving the town of Vilanova del Vallès we approached the La Pineda urbanization where we leave the car parked in front of the forest where the tour begins after climbing very high ramps. You will see brands of PR-C36 that go into the forest through a flat dirt road and surrounded by pine trees.

As we enter the forest, it is surprising to observe the fine, beach-style sand that we find along the route, despite the relative distance that exists from the coast.

The forest track is relatively spacious and before the first kilometer we will find some signs to visit the first Neolithic monuments. On one side we have the Can Gol II dolmen who lacks the top stone and in the other the Foradada Rock.

Dolmen de Céllecs, also known as the Cabana del Moro
